The fantasy football playoffs have arrived, and for those who made it, it’s time to make those crucial decisions that will determine who will be crowned champion. As the fantasy postseason begins, it’s important for managers to carefully evaluate every player in their starting lineup. In this article, we will walk through some key matchups at each position for Week 15 to help make informed decisions.

Quarterbacks

Justin Herbert (LAC) has been struggling lately, averaging just 10.9 fantasy points per game in his last two outings after a five-week streak in the top 12. A major factor in this decline has been his reduced involvement in the running game, but a favorable matchup against Tampa Bay may help Herbert bounce back. The Buccaneers defense has allowed the fourth-most passing yards this season, making it an ideal opportunity for Herbert to regain fantasy relevance. If you’re banking on Herbert in the playoffs, he could be a solid starter this week.

Brock Purdy (SF) has been a consistent presence in the San Francisco offense, even with an inconsistent supporting cast. After a strong performance last week, Purdy has a great matchup against the Rams, who have allowed 23 passing touchdowns this season. Though starting a QB in a Thursday night game can be nerve-wracking, Purdy’s recent form and the Rams’ defensive struggles make him a potential fantasy gem.

Running Backs

Isiah Pacheco (KC) has been recovering from injury but has shown he can handle a significant role in the Chiefs’ backfield. With the Browns allowing the fourth-most rushing touchdowns, Pacheco has a good chance to perform well in the opening round of the fantasy playoffs.

Braelon Allen (NYJ) is finally getting his moment with Breece Hall out. Against the Jaguars, who have allowed 15 rushing touchdowns this season, Allen could see plenty of opportunities. Fantasy managers should be ready to play Allen if Hall remains sidelined.

Sincere McCormick (LV), after spending much of the season on the practice squad, has stepped up in recent weeks. Though his ceiling may be limited, he provides a safe floor, particularly against the Falcons, who have allowed solid production to running backs this season.

Wide Receivers

Khalil Shakir (BUF) remains a reliable target for the Bills despite the influx of other weapons in the offense. He faces a Lions defense that has allowed significant passing yardage, making Shakir a viable option for fantasy managers.

Adam Thielen (CAR), despite being a veteran, has had a resurgence lately with Bryce Young playing better. In the past two games, Thielen has accumulated 201 yards and a touchdown. Facing Dallas, who has allowed a lot of big plays, Thielen offers strong WR2 potential with upside.

DK Metcalf (SEA) has struggled in recent weeks, especially since his knee injury. Though he’s still seeing plenty of targets, his red-zone involvement has been lacking. Facing the Packers’ solid defense, Metcalf might be better suited as a bench option for this week.

Tight Ends

Zach Ertz (WASH) has been a reliable tight end for fantasy managers this season, especially with his recent surge in touchdowns. However, he faces a tough matchup against the Saints, who rank highly against tight ends. Still, Ertz’s opportunity in the red zone gives him a chance to maintain his fantasy value.

TJ Hockenson (MIN), after returning from injury, has been a hit-or-miss player in terms of fantasy production. Despite his inconsistency, Hockenson offers solid upside in a favorable matchup against the Bears, who have struggled against tight ends in recent weeks.

Fantasy managers heading into the playoffs will need to carefully consider these matchups and make strategic choices to maximize their chances of success. With the right decisions, victory could be within reach.
